En son yapılan değişikliklerle beraber avukatların şartları oluşması halinde bağlı bulunduğu şehirdeki başka baro kurulmasına imkan tanındı. İstanbul Barosu en eski baro olması yönüyle önem taşımaktadır. Yapılan değişiklikle İstanbul Barosu yeni adını İstanbul 1 Numaralı Baro olarak değiştirildi. Yeni kurulan baro ise 2 numaralı baro olarak isim aldı. Türkiye’de görev yapan tüm avukatlar Barolar birliğine siciline kaydolmak zorundadır.
